Hello, BC
Am I the only one who tears up a little when she sees the Hello, BC commercial? Yes? Oh, nevermind then........

Silly Confession
I have a confession of sorts.
I've always been a rather slim girl. Very slightly built. I'm meant to be this way, I have the slimmest of bones which set me up for this shape. However, last year, I was working in a restaurant lounge which required me to wear heels. This meant developing quite the musculature in my things. Like a soccer player you could say. So, now that I'm not serving and well, not really working much at all I have lost some of that toning which means I am left with blah thighs that are slightly bigger than you would expect on someone my size (although, there are girls my size who are much much bigger I suppose so heh). I figure if I work at it for a few weeks they'll be back to being toned so I'm not too upset over it but oops!! Should have realized that my new found muscle laden things would you know, need me to keep up with working them out to actually KEEP that muscle. haha. Darn.

Sometimes you just can't entirely explain things....
I think I'm feeling slightly insecure and I'm not entirely certain why. I have a few hunches, which I'll be discussing with my special someone because sometimes just talking things through can help immensely. It should be noted that my hunches aren't entirely to do with him. He hasn't done anything wrong or anything to upset me at all. He's a good boy :)

Happy (belated) Valentine's Day!!
Happy Valentine's day!!
Yes, I'm a day late. What of it?
And now it is Louis Riel day in these parts so I suppose I should go remember how my province came to be.

Oh, I guess I should have taken that....
Today, I learned that yes, in fact, my dust allergy is alive and well. We're in the process of sorting through the basement at my parent's house. It is FILLED to the gills with.....treasured.....crap. It isn't as bad as say Ho@rders but it is bad. There are two rooms in the basement and the rest is just storage space essentially. But nothing is boxed up in an organized fashion. You want Christmas stuff? Okay, well, there are let's say 5 boxes. Two are together in one area while the other three are just um somewhere. Every year it gets worse so every year Christmas has a little less Christmas going on. Same with other seasons. This....situation applies to EVERYTHING. Except my stuff. Because my stuff is all nicely packed up and labelled and TOGETHER. But then, I moved back in so of course my stuff all got there at the same time and I've worked hard to keep it together. Well, anyway, because the basement is in such disarray it is also VERY dusty and um, well, still filled with cat hair from when my cat passed away a few years ago. Yup!
See, when the basement is that full sometimes it is difficult to reach everywhere. But the cat had no problems. And the dust has no problems. Yay!! Oh, and my cat left gifts for us in random places. That's always lovely to discover. So we've got TONS of cat hair and dust for me to enjoy while we work on the basement. But see, we're all allergic so we're all down there suffering through this together. Aww, so cute. The other day when we were down there I was merely sneezing. It was a tad annoying but I thought, wow, maybe my allergies aren't as bad as I thought. So today before we went down there I didn't take anything because I could 100% handle the allergens. Ha! Let's just say there were a few trips upstairs to help sort things out. Oi!
Yah, it was awesome.
I'm hoping that by the end of the week the basement will be so so so much better (it already is better, but I want more of course). I like things to be somewhat organized so I'm very excited about this process. But it is a lot of work and the biggest hurdle is getting my dad down there to go through things (ditto with my mom). It's their stuff, not mine so they need to make the decisions. There's only so much the kids can do (basically we stand there while they hand us things while saying "garbage", "recycle", "donate", "tools", "kids stuff"....we're just little lemmings really).

Things to do
Elle is planning.

Once I get a paying job, my goal is to try to do a little travelling. I'm hoping the following places will be on the list over the next 12 months:
-Edmonton (to visit one of my many bff's, her hubby, and her brand new baby)(hopefully this can happen in February. Crossing my fingers REALLY REALLY hard. Postponement to March would make me sad BUT would still make me happy happy.
-Summerland, BC - Hello, Okanagan valley. Amazing views. Amazing Wine. Need I say more?? Oh, and another BFF and her baby girl (who is growing up toooooo fast!!! 2? How did that happen)
-Vancouver - So pretty in the spring/early summer. Not so much November to March. Also, I want to show the boy how much better Vancouver is over Toronto (even if I've never been there)
-Toronto - the boy is supposed to show me how much better TO is over Van. We'll see.
-Halifax - Work related goal (yes yes, what work? We shall see....)
-Calgary/Banff - Also work related but possibly more feasible work related thing.
Yes, I realize this includes no cities outside of Canda but that's okay. This is a 12 month goal not a 2 or 5 year goal. Long term would obviously include destinations such as ummm, somewhere hot like Mexico, Australia, the UK, and maybe Germany since I have this fascination I can't explain (since I was in High School) and the boy happens to actually be from there (even if he can't actually remember living there, haha).

Reminiscing

Whenever I see photos of Vancouver (or BC even) I get a little misty eyed. Especially with the lead up to the Games. I won't be there for them and that was what had brought me out there in the first place. I don't have any regret about leaving the Games, I really don't. It was the right thing to do for me at the time but still, I can feel a bit misty eyed, right? I hope that's okay.
I really don't have any desire to live in Vancouver for the rest of my life. I just simply don't. I think it was a fabulous experience for me to have lived there, and for two years at that. But I just don't feel like it's the place where I want to settle down (plus, I just can't get used to all the rain). But I do hope that I get to visit there a lot. And I hope that when I have kids, I can take them there all the time to visit this fantastic city. It definitely stole a piece of my heart that I will not get back. And I don't want it back. I'm okay with Vancouver having that piece.
I wish I had a photo (and I'm sure I do somewhere and I just can't find it right now) of the view of downtown from the Burrard or Granville Street bridge at night. EVERYTIME I drove over those bridges at night I just couldn't help but choke up a little and just feel in awe of the beauty that is a big city. A big city on the West Coast. Just stunning. I'm a little misty eyed sitting here thinking about it.
